Waste Triangles

I have been making some Flying Geese segments since the beginning of the year from a kit for a Stars quilt. The instruction were to use rectangles and put squares on each end, sewing a diagonal seam. Press outward along seam, then cut off the extra corners Nothing was said about the "waste triangles", or the part you cut off. I have been double sewinig the seam, cutting off the sewn corners, saving them, pressing and squaring them to 1 3/4". Then sewing them together as Leaders & Enders. Each foursome came out to 3" square.

Finally I have them together in a quilt top, about 36" x 36".
Don't tell. The main quilt is for my Secret Sister.

Hi Sara, first let me say I'm so sorry I didn't get your finish entered. I remember your note, not sure if it was a comment or an email, but I do remember reading it. Not sure what happened between then and later, but I am sorry. I hope you will forgive my oversight. I'd chalked it up tonight. I absolutely LOVE your finish!! What a great idea to turn that not-so-wonderful signature top into that darling dolly quilt! It's just inspired! That takes real creative genius! Hope the rest of your projects go as well. It's good, I think to give ourselves the freedom to change things around and make them more pleasing to us. Big hugs, Finn

I so agree with Finn. Some of my favorite creations are cut up from previous things. Also love that basket quilt. That area on Lake Huron is so nice and after everyone else has gone is such a nice time to visit. Hope you have an easy winter and get lots of quilting done.

Simply fantastic. Would you mind stopping by and demonstrating how to handle such tiny pieces?

What a beautiful quilt. . . and from "found pieces" no less!

Keep up the wonderful work.

I gasped with Happy Dance at this treasure, made with what some folks call, throwaway fabric. It's a charming quilt - so cheerful and happy. Good job.
